Outfits From Around the World #3: Paris Casual Chic (Women)

Next up on our list of countries is the number one high-class fashion hub of the world, France!

The French are notorious for their innovative and creative outlets of media, whether it be their clothing designs, works of art, indie movies, or works of literature. Today we’re looking at one of their most iconic yet easy-to-accomplish styles which is commonly referred to as “casual chic.”

Capturing this style for yourself is an excellent way of reinventing how you look, and I think this particular brand of clothing suites city life best (though feel free to wear it regardless of where you live.)

Elements of Casual Chic

Most prominent on the streets of Paris, you’ll see a flamboyant mix of loose, velvety fabrics, classy blazers, high-end accessories, and elegant blouses paired with more casual wear such as jeans and leather jackets (source). These contrasting elements create an overall relaxed look while simultaneously emitting an air of captivating sophistication.

This style is for the every-women; it’s meant to be worn while walking down the streets of a city with a cup of coffee on your day off. Yes, the outfit is perhaps one of the easiest ways to “dress to impress” with minimal effort and works splendidly with all body types.

If you’re looking to capture this style for yourself, then here’s a bit of outfit inspo to get you started:

Paris Casual Chic Outfit

PrettyGuide Women Summer Short Sleeve Sweater Mock

If you know anything about French fashion, you're probably aware of the country's love of stripes and their intrinsic value in designer culture. This is because they're a superb way of adding texture and flare to any outfit without making the design overstimulating or flashy, and they can manipulate how your body looks overall.

It's for these reasons that I believe this short, stripped sweater mock makes an ideal base for the outfit.

Febriajuce Women's Casual Long Sleeve Office Blazer Suit Jacket

Where would French fashion be without blazers? They're a classy addition to both business and casual styles, and are a staple amongst fashion trends around the world. Oversized ones in particular really make this outfit pop and will help keep you warm on those cold winter days.

NINE WEST Women's High Rise Perfect Skinny Jean

Now for the casual portion of the outfit.

You'll want a pair of skinny jeans (preferably high-waisted), which you'll then tuck the aforementioned sweater in. Now, I say skinny jeans, but really any high rise pair will do. If baggy jeans work better with your body type or you already have a pair you want to wear, then go with that. This guide is merely meant to be a compilation of suggestions, not rules.

JOY IN LOVE Women's Chunky Block Heels 3 Inch Ankle Strap Low Heel Sandals

In casual chic, the choice of shoes are pretty versatile and you can use anything from a pair of sneakers to black high-heels. In this particular design, we're meeting in the middle ground with a lovely, yet down-to-Earth pair of low-heel sandals that are more comfortable than dress shoes and better looking then sneakers.

Kate Spade Carson Convertible Crossbody Handbag

An essential component and the final accessory to our incredible Paris-inspired casual chic outfit is a high-end, brand name purse. My recommendation is Kate Spade since I don't want you to break the bank on Gucci gear, but if you've got the spare cash (or already have one), then don't be afraid to use that.

Wrapping Up

*MWAH! Perfecto! This concludes our marvelous and attainable casual chic style outfit straight from the streets of Paris in France. It's so simple (especially for French wear) and makes you look like class-act. What's not to love?
